Adopt a Tree
Select a tree growing on public land in your neighborhood or in front of your place of business and give it "living" care - water and feeding - so it will grow into a healthy, vigorous tree.

Plant a Tree
Request a free native tree at our annual native tree giveaway in January. Students at Carmel Middle School re-pot and nurture the 12" Monterey Pines and 36" Cypress seedlings to make them ready for prompt planting. Plant your new native tree on your property, or if you know of a vacant space on public land and are able to water the tree once a week for a year, we will get permission from the Carmel Forest Department and assist you with planting your seedling.

Walking Tours
Learn about Carmel's urban forest on guides city tours. Past speakers include city forester, Mike Branson, and former city forester, Greg D'Ambrosio.

Non-Native Plant Eradication
Join our annual springtime eradication program of non-native, invasive plants in the Mission Trail Nature Preserve.

Tree Survey
Join our volunteers for the city's annual tree survey. We cover one quarter of Carmel in 26 two-member teams to gather significant information on the number, size, and type of trees on public property.

Arbor Day Tree Forum
Join us for our annual Arbor Day event. Presented by Friends of Carmel Forest and the City of Carmel, the event features special guest speakers. Past speakers have included the Coastal Gardener Dave Egbert, urban ecologist Kelaine Vargas, and gallery owner James Rieser.
